The Duke

As we were walking between the Postal Museum and Charles Dickens House Museum in London we felt the need for refreshment. Then we saw a sign to a pub, The Duke.

We found an Art Deco pub (circa 1938) sited in a residential area on a corner underneath a block of flats. The interior of the cosy pub featured many features of its period and the food was good. I'd recommend it as a spot to rest prior or after a to visit the Dicken's Museum which we found just around the corner.

20 Something Snaps - Art Deco

Yesterday in Napier, NZ, we found a town full of preserved Art Deco buildings. I went overboard taking photos on the two tours we did. It was necessary to look above the modern shop awnings to appreciate the features of many of the buildings.

Congratulations to the city authorities who had the foresight to preserve these heritage buildings.

Following are a few snaps.

Art Deco

On the night prior to our cruise we stayed at South Beach in Miami at Mr Geniaus' request as he was keen to have a look around the 800 or so Art Deco buildings in the Miami Beach Historic Architectural District.

As well as going for a stroll on Wednesday evening we spent a couple of hours exploring the area before boarding our cruise ship yesterday. Our cameras went with us on our excursion. Aren't the buildings just amazing.

A work in progress

I was captivated by this doorway

We enjoyed our exploration so much that we will try to take The Art Deco Walking Tour when our ship returns to Miami.
