A Laugh from the National Trust

30 July 2018

It was raining yesterday when we visited Beatrix Potter's Hill Top Farm, a National Trust property in Cumbria. The good people from the Trust who look after the property were anxious to keep the rain out of Beatrix's house. They loaned those of us waiting to enter the property umbrellas bearing the National Trust logo and the words "I'm keeping drips out of Hill Top"

Happy Birthday NHS

Over here the bods in the UK are celebrating the 70th Birthday of the National Health Service (NHS).

When we stopped in Thirsk, Yorkshire we spotted this display of knitted items that recognise the work of the NHS.

Sleeping with Winston tonight

We are staying in The Churchill Hotel in York where Winston will be watching over us as we sleep. What will he paint?

The Old Silent Inn

After our morning walking tour of Chester we were in need of sustenance. Our guide suggested that we stop for lunch at The Old Silent Inn to fortify us for our afternoon visit to The Bronte Parsonage Museum.

We enjoyed our meal and visit to the 400 year old pub.

Visiting Prince Arthur

Having an excellent tour guide for our visit to Worcester Cathedral this morning enhanced our visit to this place of worship.

An Excellent Guide

A highlight of our visit was seeing the intricately carved chantry that houses the tomb of Prince Arthur Tudor.
