Suite luxury

Our first time on the Seven Seas Explorer - Regent's newest ship. Our digs for the next 24 nights are very comfortable.

Take a look at our room.

In Lisbon and nearly ready to board Seven Seas Explorer. Are you ready for our next adventure?

Bed Hopping

28 November 2018

After several weeks of bed hopping around Africa (in very comfy beds) we were pleased to board our ship in Lisbon today, unpack our and look forward to 24 nights in a supremely comfortable Regent bed.

We love Regent ships and this is the first time we have sailed on The Explorer  the most luxurious ship ever built. Most of the following images are of our cabin suite with a few taken on my first wander around the ship. We are so fortunate to have an opportunity to sail on such a beautiful vessel.

Zambians at home

 25 November 2018

Our last visit in Zambia to a local village was a sobering experience.

The women of the village repair and make bicycles.

3Cs - champagne, chips and chandeliers make the preflight wait in Johannesburg more comfortable as I contemplate an error I made with our booking.

I thought I had booked Business Class seats for our long leg from Joburg to London and Premium Economy for the short hop from London to Lisbon. Alas, I got it wrong and we are facing the long ride in Premium Economy and the short one in Business!!!

White Rhinos

 24 November 2021

On the last game drive of our trip we saw the White Rhinos in Zambia's Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park.
Eric and Stanley, armed ranger/guards, escorted us to the rhino site.

Victoria Falls

 24 November 2018

Victoria Falls has been on my bucket list for as long as I can remember. Today we got out chance to visit the site. This visit wasn't included in our tour but the hosts at our accommodation made the arrangements for us and another couple staying at our lodge. As we were coming across from Zambia into Zimbabwe we had to alight our vehicle at the border and line up to get visa (hard to believe I didn't take any photos). That accomplished we were able to travel the few kilometres to enter the site with the best view of the Falls.

Unfortunately our visit was in the dry season so the Falls weren't performing as well as they can. We'll just have to return in the wet season.

We're in the right place

There was lots of native flora along the paths

We passed on nature's jacuzzi

Mr GeniAus likes to live on the edge

Kayaking wasn't on our agenda either

Looking back towards Zambia

A popular place for school excursions
