Chao Praya

Settled in Bangkok. Nice view up the Chao Praya River from our room — at Royal Orchid Sheraton Hotel & Towers.

While this is not a fave hotel of mine I'm happy with the view.

First Impressions

After an uneventful flight up from Bangkok we arrived in Chiang Mai, Thailand for a post cruise Regent tour. I think I'm going to like it here.

Our hotel looks okay

The streets appear clean and green

Staying Close

Nearly in Laem Chabang the port for Bangkok which is industrial and nearly 3 hours drive from town. As we have visited Bangkok on several occasions we we'll stay close and visit Pattaya today.

Docked in Nha Trang

Another hectic day in Vietnam looms. Docked in Nha Trang. Today we head out into a rural area - a change from cities and beaches. Is that a cable car I spy from our balcony?

An Impressive Show in Sakurajima

I posted this image on Facebook earlier today with the caption "Checking in from a live volcano, Sakurajima, in Japan."

Sakurajima Selfie

Following are some additional photos from today's adventures in Kagoshima. A local ferry delivered us to Sakurajima Island near Kagoshima where the active volcano put on an impressive show for us.

Kota Kinabalu

1 April 2018

We had a long bus ride to get to Kinabalu Park, an area part way up Mount Kinabalu. Kinabalu Park  is Malaysia's first World Heritage Site. Our walk along the Silau Silau Nature Trail which was quite rough took us through the Mountain Garden where we saw many exotic plants.

Our tour included a dreadful buffet lunch at the Liwagu Restaurant. we didn't eat much as we had been fortified by a good breakfast on the ship and knew there will be another  beautiful dinner waiting for us back on board.

With Mr GeniAus, Mt Kinabalu in the background

A rough walk
