As I travel the world I take many photos that pique my interest, these could be lumped into a "peculiar category" ie. they are peculiar to my interests and may be different from what one usually sees in a collection of travel photos.
For this post I chose a building we visited last year that was unique, the Dohany Street Synagogue in Budapest. There are several sites on the internet that give further information on this building. The short story that this is an Orthodox Synagogue that was designed by a Christian architect; the result being that the building's footprint is quite unorthodox as it resembles a Christian church. This site is not to be missed on a visit to Budapest.
I took several many upclose photos of this building before, during and after our guided tour. What I found most impressive was the way that the Magen David motif is incorporated into many of the elements and items in the building.
It looks like an amazing site to visit.
