As I travel the world I take many photos that pique my interest, these could be lumped into a "peculiar category" ie. they are peculiar to my interests and may be different from what one usually sees in a collection of travel photos.
For the
Blogging from A to Z April Challenge in 2025 my theme is
Peculiar Pics. During April
I invite you to join me for an online tour of
Peculiar Pics from my digital albums. These will be sourced from my travels between April 2024 to March 2025.
Britannica tells me that an "arch, in
architecture and
civil engineering, (is) a curved member that is used to span an opening and to support loads from above. The arch formed the basis for the evolution of the
vault."
So my first image in this post is not really an arch!

On our walk through the old town - Tangier, Morocco

Supermarket - Lisbon, Portugal |

St Emillon, France |

Timber Anchor in Museum - Cadiz, Spain |

Anchor from the Amoco Cadiz - Portsall, Brittany, France |

Spotted on our way to the Balenciaga Museum - Getaria, Spain |

Driveby - Matosinhos, Portugal |
Although not an arch, a very beautiful entry way. I notice an arch over the door behind the anchor in the last photo. An arch of bricks inlaid in the structure.
ReplyDeleteWell spotted !
DeleteBeautiful arches and anchors, Jill!! ...from so many places I wish I could visit! :)
ReplyDeleteThese photos are a great start. I’d qualify the entry as an arch way . I love the supermarket
ReplyDeleteGreat photos
ReplyDeleteSorry Jill, the Anonymous comment was me,
ReplyDeleteA great selection of arches and anchors. I particularly noticed and remembered the yellow and cream stripes of Melk - brought back happy memories of a visit there many years ago.
ReplyDeleteHah! I'm going to have an entry about Sumiyoshi later this month too :) Cool pics!
ReplyDeleteHappy A to Z!
The Multicolored Diary
What a fabulous collection of photos! And I'd have no trouble calling the Sumiyoshi pic an example of a "squared off" arch. :)
ReplyDeleteLove the theme! And wonderful pictures too. I'm a fan of the Sumiyoshi arch
ReplyDeleteWhat a great collection of pictures. You have travelled to so many countries! Amazing. Looking forward to see more peculiar pictures.
ReplyDeleteThanks to blogging friends old and new for your comments. I will endeavour to visit your blogs during (or after April)
ReplyDeleteWhat an interesting way to use your travel photos. Some lovely arches and anchors displayed.
ReplyDeleteThanks Linda, I'll be popping into your posts once I finish off the rest of mine - just seven to go!
