A Walk in the Park

I am ashamed to say that although we have been to New York City half a dozen times I have never set foot in Central Park until today. I was worried that we may be mugged as I'd heard terrible stories about Central Park. Having now visited in the light of day and seeing how busy the place was  I don't know why we stayed away from this peaceful refuge in the noisy city.

We covered around half of the park by pedicab before we set off on foot
Didn't realise there was so much rock around in the park
The sun actually came out today and the mercury climbed above 50f.
The Manhattan Skyline
Spring has nearly arrived
The Mall
With our Serbian pedicab driver - his calves must have been hurting from the uphill sections
This guy was waiting patiently for someone
Strawberry Fields

This energetic chap was diving amongst the leaves for munchies

Mother and son?
Central Park regatta
Thanks to a kind English tourist we have proof of our visit
Serenity
A raucous bunch of students and their disorganised teacher. I think they were trying to get set up to perform.  It seemed like they hadn't rehearsed at all. In all my years in schools I've never seen such an unruly mob.
The smallest toilet stall I have ever used  was in here.
Lots of options to take the weight off one's feet.
The skating season is still in full swing
The other option for a park tour
Budget lunch - a $2 hot dog

  1. Wow, it looks huge, and nothing like I imagined!

  2. It looks so different from when we were there last May - it was hot! and we went from shade tree to shade tree! We couldn't see as much of the skyline as you because all the trees had leaves.

  3. Bet you felt like stepping and showing the disorganised teacher how to sort out those students. Being a librarian you would probably have got them in a straight line in alphabetical order according to their surname!!! Central park looks great and more rural than I thought it would be.

  4. I enjoy all your photos, but particularly liked seeing Central Park. It is much bigger than I expected and even though it is obviously cold, I would have expected a lot more people to be in the park. Thanks for taking the time to post them. Marian
