An Architectural Tour

We had a huge day in Reykjavik today. The sun was shining as we travelled on the hopon-hopoff bus, wandered the streets and visited a couple of unique attractions.

While travelling around we snapped some of the typical Icelandic heritage buildings that are used for commerce and housing.

We'll look forward to boarding the ship for some R&R tomorrow.

Windows on the World - R is for Reminiscing in Reykjavik

This month I am participating in the A-Z Blogging Challenge where I will endeavour to post on this blog each day. I will be sharing photos of Windows that I have photographed on my travels and highlighting from A-Z the places where I found these Windows on the World.

When we were in Reykjavik, Iceland last year we visited an open-air museum in Arbaer where we were able to visit Icelandic houses from various time periods throughout history. At this marvellous museum we were given insights into the history of Iceland. There was a variety of windows in the buildings at the museum.

Blue Lagoon

A popular tourist site just outside of Reykjavik in Iceland is the Blue Lagoon. As we knew that this would be our only trip to Iceland a dip in the warm healing waters was on our agenda.

I expected to find more modest facilities at this site but found a very modern and slick operation. While we were just day visitors we could have opted to stay at the complex hotel and avail ourselves of the spa services on offer.

Once showered and in our swimsuits, as the outside air was rather brisk, we quickly made our way to the pool. It was a relief to enter the warm water. I don't know if the silica mask applied to my face enhanced my complexion but this unique experience was great fun.
