Grounded
The bags are packed but we are now unpacking. We elderly travellers have taken on board the advice from the Government's Smartraveller site and have cancelled our South Seas cruise.

Can't put it off any longer
There are no more sleeps left. Today we are leaving on the jet plane so I had better say goodbye to my cosy, comfy bed and pack my bag.
There are piles of clothes all over the floor. It's time to choose the lucky items that will join us on our adventure.

Pills and Insight
Just two more sleeps to go before the trip.
Today's main activity was a trip to the GP. When I went in for my consultation I said "I'm here for drugs!" After giving me a quizzical look she checked me over and provided me with prescriptions for the pills and potions I will need to take away. My subsequent trip to the pharmacist probably paid the deposit on her next overseas trip!
Washing, ironing, blog writing and telephone calls filled the rest of my day.
I couldn't make one call until this evening as I had decided to call Insight Vacations London Office and I needed to wait for morning to happen over there. Having blogged yesterday about how their luggage policy was out of sync with airline luggage policies I decided to call and beg for leniency.
Alleluia - I now love Insight Vacations, the lovely girl I spoke with on the phone has said that I can take whatever luggage the airlines let me bring on their coach tour. My suitcase and matching pink cabin bag will be travelling with me (I figure that I can squash a few extra outfits into the cabin bag).

Ready for Takeoff....
No way!
Just three more sleeps and Mr Geniaus and I will be jetting off to Poland - the first stop on our next holiday adventure.
The packing challenge has started as I mentioned on Facebook a couple of days ago "Challenge of the week : restricting myself to 23kg luggage for European flights and coach tour. Packing for Gdansk, Poland south to Argentina - a few climate zones!"
After laying out potential wardrobe items on the bed I started packing them in my suitcase and it was a sad story. I have just checked the three European airlines we are flying with and I can take a larger bag but it still has to be only 23 kg. and I can take a reasonable sized cabin bag. My problem is that Insight Vacations regulations are out of sync with the airlines so I can take one bag of 30kg on our coach tour and a piddly cabin bag - lots of packing and repacking ahead! To compound matters at the end of our trip we are only allowed 15 kg for our trip to Iguazu Falls but at least the rest of our luggage will be stored for us.
The good news is that my tax return is organised and I have had a short, short haircut.
