A Saturday in Salt Lake
Well here I am in Salt Lake City for the Rootstech Conference. As it was my first day I took it quietly, slept in till 9, had a leisurely breakfast with some genimates and then headed for some retail therapy (don't worry Mr GeniAus - I only bought essential items) came back to the hotel for some R&R then made a short visit to the Family History Library.
Dinner with Roger and Lisa Moffatt was an adventure which ended in a delicious meal at Blue Lemon.

I wondered about these birds until Roger told me that the seagull is the State bird of Utah |

A Shoppers' Paradise - The City Creek Center |
City Creek - Just the place to recover from a long flight |
The Creek runs through the Center - don't know if it's man made or if it follows an original watercourse. |
Light lunch at Kneaders - thanks for the tip fellow bloggers |
The Temple in Salt Lake City - note the brilliant blue sky |
That's the Mormon Tabernacle in Temple Square |
And I can't remember what this building next to the Tabernacle is called |
I made a positive comment about this chap's car so he fetched an album from the trunk and showed me a picture of his family and the car when he was a baby in 1965. It was previously his Dad's car. |

I couldn't help myself
When I attended the Rootstech Conference in Salt Lake City in March I indulged in a spot of graffiti.
Whilst on a comfort break I found a handwritten note attached to the door of one of the cubicles. It stated "Out of service. Toilet leaks"
I just had to add a few extra words "So do I".

Fanfare in Salt Lake City
Those of you who follow my Geniaus blog will know that I hit the ground running in Salt Lake City. I've had a great time so far meeting up with old friends, organising a dinner for the Aussies who are in town and doing a spot of research.
I also exercised restraint on my visit to Macy's only buying one pair of shoes and a couple of other items. The newly opened City Creek shopping center just up the road from the hotel is very tempting.
The Harvard basketball team, their cheer squad and a Harvard band are also resident in our hotel. I travelled down in the lift this morning with a delightful young man and his trombone. He was kind enough to pose for me when we reached the hotel foyer.

More winter warmth

They're certainly no fashion item but my Faux fur lined winter boots purchased for a song from Ross Stores in Salt Lake City are keeping my feet nice and warm.
