Shady Spot

Our travels across Arnhem Land were quite comfortable in our air-conditioned truck but whenever we stopped for a break we had to contend with temperatures over 30c.

On some of the longer days we had our morning teas or lunches along the road. Our Tour Leader from Outback Spirit, Greg, was able to find some shady spots to enjoy our breaks. For lunch today he took our truck off road and parked it under a bridge! This spot on the Goyder River kept the vehicle cool and gave us a nice spot to enjoy our picnic lunch.

It was obvious that we weren't the first visitors to this spot

In Anno Itinerantur - B is for Bridges

#AtoZChallenge 2023 letter B

In the past year since  travel opened up for Australians Robert and I have taken several journeys at home and overseas. While I posted many photos of these adventures on Facebook I want to leave a more permanent record of some of our adventures. This challenge provides me with opportunities to share my photos and stories while recording some personal history.

I plan to share photos and stories from our travels between April 2022 and March 2023.  My theme this year is In Anno Itinerantur.

As we have motored along the highways and byways of the world we have crossed or passed many bridges. Some of these cross famous waterways and others dry rivers.

I will share  20 Something Snaps of Bridges below. On reviewing my photos I was surprised that I couldn't find any bridge photos for some of the places we visited.

Porto

Unfortunately I can't connect two devices to the internet at this hotel so, as I first connected with my smartphone,  I have to use it for my blog post.

Since we hit Spain we have been on the go. Thank heavens we had four quieter days in Berlin before we joined this tour of Spain and Portugal.

We left Salamanca, Spain for a picturesque drive to Portugal and felt quite at home as we passed many eucalypt forests. After a  tour of Porto City we had a seafood lunch of traditional Portuguese dishes before going to a Port tasting. We now have a bottle of white port to add to our overloaded suitcases.

Porto on the Duoro River is right on the Atlantic. Pictured below is one of the bridges over the river. Does it remind you of another famous structure? In Paris?  Yes, it was designed by Monsieur Eiffel of tower fame.

The other snap is of two old travellers by the river.
