Robert is currently tidying his stamp collection that has been sitting unloved in the garage for twenty plus years. In among the jumble he found a treasure he had saved from his working days as Town Clerk at Waverley.
One of the ratepayers had a unique approach to insufficient postage on a letter sent to council.
I understand what he's doing completely. I too had a stamp and cover collection that languished in a back bedroom. I luckily knew of a couple who are philatelic estate liquidators and I gave it all to them to dispose of. It will take about 9 months to do but it was such a relief to get rid of it that the amount of time didn't matter.
ReplyDeleteWe are all at sea about disposing of them but they need to be in better order before we dispose of them. Younger generations aren't interested!
ReplyDeleteI just couldn't face the sorting and cataloguing required in tidying up. In the end I decided that disposing of it any way I could and not worrying about it was the way to go. Classic philately here in the US is dying out; the younger generation prefer topical collecting if they collect at all. And I had an Australian collection where the nearest dealers were in Canada.
