Arty Overload

A wonderful morning at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam today. Here are some of the treasures that caught my fancy. There were even some Van Goghs and Rembrants that one could photograph.

Our Amsterdam Pass gave us entry to many local sites. After a sobering visit to the Dutch Resistance Museum we wandered across the road to visit the locals at the Zoo.

Luckily I wasn't around or I may have been caught.

Menin Gate

Tonight we attended the Last Post Service at The Menin Gate in Belgium.. It was a moving and memorable occasion as we reflected on the sacrifices of so many young men. 

It was wonderful to see an Australian school group lay a wreath during the ceremony.

A Stop in Perrone

We had a long stop at the Museum of the Great War in Peronne, France, today. Australian troops are recognised here for liberating the town in 1918. There is a brilliant new permanent display devoted to the Australian involvement.

Ypres

During our tour of the World War 1  battlefields in Feance and Belgium we spent two night in Ypres.

While there we spent some quiet time in contemplation at Saint George's Memorial Church. We took several photos during our visit.

Front row seat

Ready for takeoff on QF23 from Sydney to Bangkok. I guess there's enough legroom. We're in Row 1 - just behind the driver.

The cleaner could have gathered a bit more dust in the vacuum!
