Jetty Makeover

It's great to be home.  Even though the sun isn't shining the backyard looks pretty good.

Thanks to Kevin and Kath who, in our absence, have given the jetty the makeover it needed after July's storm damage.

The jetty is usable again

After the storm

It was hot in Carey Bay today but thankfully we are able to use our solar power to power the aircon which kept us cool. As often happens on hot summer's day we had a very angry but mercifully quick storm at dusk.

After the storm we were rewarded with a double rainbow whose reflection came all the way to our fence. Thanks to Robert for calling me out from my Geneacave so that I could watch the colourful show.

It was so magnificent that, after watching the display, I had to run inside and share my photos here.

How's that for a reflection?

It went way up and over our house

A local duck family were paddling towards the rainbow

The clouds in the other direction were not too bad either

The bods on MV Lady Mac (left) were chasing the rainbow.

A Dynamic Sky

Between five and seven thirty tonight the sky in our backyard went through several changes.

The Rain Cometh

We woke to clear skies this morning so thought the weather man must have been wrong in his prediction of rain.

Over the past hour the outside temperature has dropped and the wind has been whistling. The rain is now pelting down. Ten minutes I could see it coming across the Lake. The weather man got it right today!

The wind is whipping up the water

Stirred up

Inside was the place to be today as outside on the Lake the water is stirred up, the wind is whistling and the waves are crashing on the shore.

Hampered

I don't think the Boatshed will get its roof today. Progress on its reconstruction is determined by the weather.

The Calm before the Storm

The view from my living room today. I don't think I will ever tire of watching the changing moods of the Lake.

Minus 20 degrees

A storm rolled in and the mercury has fallen to 21c. We had a high of 41c today.

Here comes the rain.

Snug and safe

Currently cruising the Java Sea on Seven Seas Navigator.

First storm this cruise and the foghorn is blasting away. Feeling snug in our suite as we watch the rain lashing our balcony, the white caps on the sea and the wind whistling and roaring.
