Brunch at a local

 28 November 2017

Making use of one of Robert's birthday vouchers we had brunch at a local cafe in Toronto, The Doubletake.

I opted for Eggs Benedict...

While Robert chose a more traditional option

A Welcome Distraction

Around 9 o'clock today I got a phone call from a four year old who said "Gummy, can we come for a swim."  Of course I replied that that would be lovely so he, his Dad and two brothers came over for a swim and a few other activities.

Our visit of course started with a fortyfying snack of juice and biscuits which little boys can always devour.  Unfortunately I didn't get any photos in the pool because I was enjoying the water with the boys. I did, however, manage to snap a couple of other activities.

Quite tasty

I found this recipe amongst my bits and pieces the other day and thought I'd  try it for dinner last night and I managed to get it right. The quantities mentioned gave three decent servings (you'd be still hungry if you tried to stretch it to the suggested 6 servings).

The verdict of those I served was "You can cook this again."  I'm sorry I didn't take a photo as it looked rather impressive.

Cackleberries

When I was a child my Aunty Lil and Uncle Tom who had chooks down their backyard called the eggs they laid cackleberries. As I was and still am a fan of any sort of berry I love that term.

Fast forward 50+ years and Mr Geniaus and I have a chicken coop on our property. Here are some of the lovely cackleberries he collected this morning.
