A-Z Blogging Challenge 2025 - L is for Lights, Lamps and Lanterns

As I travel the world I take many photos that pique my interest, these could be lumped into a "peculiar category" ie. they are peculiar to my interests and may be different from what one usually sees in a collection of travel photos.

For the Blogging from A to Z April Challenge in 2025 my theme is Peculiar Pics. During April I invite you to join me for an online tour of Peculiar Pics from my digital albums. These will be sourced from my travels between April 2024 to March 2025.

Fiat Lux - Let there be light (Latin, 'Let there be light'), comes from third verse of the Book of Genesis. A visit to Google will provide links to many articles providing scientific evidence for the benefits of light on our health and wellbeing.

Light also provides with a window on the world around us, giving us opportunities to appreciate and interact with our physical environment. Sometimes, at night and in darker spaces, we need artificial light to shine on our surroundings. In today's post we will look at some lights, lamps and lanterns that light up our lives. As well as their practical purposes these items may also serve a decorative purpose.

A-Z Blogging Challenge 2024: L is for Let there be Light

Looking back through my travel photos I see that in many places we visited there was, on our agendas, an Abbey, Cathedral, Chapel, Church, Convent, Monastery, Mosque, Pagoda, Synagogue, Temple or other place of worship. As we travel along the road I often take snaps of God's houses we pass by. These buildings range from ordinary to ostentatious.

For the Blogging from A to Z April 2024 Blogging Challenge my theme is Gods' Houses. During April I invite you to join me for an online tour of Gods' Houses from my digital albums.

I am taking a literal approach to this theme Let there be Light. I have chosen images of  lamps, lights and lanterns I've seen in Gods' Houses.

Star of the Show

While we still have another evening to explore the Vivid Festival my star of the show is the centrepiece of the display, our Sydney Opera House.

I couldn't help snapping away as we sailed around watching the vibrant display on the building's sails. If the weather behaves we'll return this evening to view the show from the land.
