I just made it

Each year I participate in a reading challenge or two. I was a dismal failure with the The 52 Book Club’s 2024 Reading Challenge. I started off well but more shiny objects (books I just had to read/recommendations from friends) got in the way of sticking to the challenge themes.

I also joined the Goodreads 2024 Challenge setting myself a target of 100 books to read. I only just managed to make my target last night.

I found this event a HUGE CHALLENGE as we travelled a lot this year and that impacts on my reading time.  I am rather proud that I managed to reach my target.

The funny thing is that, when I reviewed my list of books read in 2024, I discovered that I neglected to mark some as read. I am pleased to report that I actually read 104 books.

We have several journeys already booked for next year but I will still try to read 100 titles in 2025.

  1. Well done. I've read 20 of your 100. My pick from your list is possibly Foster. This year, I've managed 83 with a goal of 52. After seeing your post last year about the 52 books in 52 weeks challenge, I decided to give it a go and actually managed to succeed. I'm being a bit cheeky for the 2025 challenge. I have 5 books ready with only 1 chapter to go in each. If I don't get a good start in January, I'll have no hope. This year I'll try to fit in some of my non-fiction books waiting on my shelf to be read.

    1. I don't know how you fit reading in with full time work. I have to slip a few picture books in to reach my target.
