| Nyhavn is on Zealand |
In August we spent two wonderful days in Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark, which is located mostly on the eastern shore of Zealand. The remainder of Copenhagen is located on Amager Island.
We made the most of the glorious weather in Copenhagen and participated in both indoor and outdoor activities.
As we toured the waterways we noticed many locals out enjoying the weather and water.
It must have been school holiday time as at the Tivoli, a fun park which we had visited on previous trips, there were plenty of young thrill seekers enjoying the rides.

As per usual there were many Danes out and about on their bicycles. I presume that wearing of helmets is not mandatory.
Our second day on Zealand took us to a new-to-us site, The Glyptotek, which was rather stunning internally.

Once inside we found a decent collection of artworks by Cezanne, Degas, Gaugin, Matisse, Monet, Pisarro and Van Gogh. As we didn't know what the collection held this was a super surprise. Sadly our tour didn't give us enough time to savour all the works. There will be a next time.
I highly recommend this site for a visit.
Other Z islands we have visited include Zayatsky, Zanzibar and Zakinthos.

I have enjoyed your travel via pictures and words to many places we have not, and now probably will not, ever visit. Thank you
ReplyDeleteThanks for joining me.
DeleteZealand looks like it was a lot of fun. We visited the Glyptotek in 1974 from PNG and were in awe. Congrats on another A to Z showing us so many wonderful places.
ReplyDeleteCopenhagen in summer was so alive, they make the most of their sun.
DeleteCongratulations on finishing the last letter and the A to Z. I enjoyed touring the world with you.
ReplyDeleteThanks for following along, I'll look out for your Z post tomorrow.
DeleteI loved the photographs of some lovely sommer days. I visited the Tivoli gardens in the early 80s - my ideal fun park - I like ferris wheels, nice gardens and I enjoyed a restaurant and a concert that day. I was also lucky with the beautiful weather for my visit. The Glyptotek looks fantastic.
ReplyDeleteThanks for joining me as I reminisced, my snapshots allow me to revisit some delightful laces.
DeleteThis looks like a lovely visit Jill. Well done on completing the challenge once again. I have loved visiting these islands with you, especially as many of them are places I will probably not get to. Thanks for sharing your beautiful photos.
ReplyDeleteSo pleased you were able to journey with me.
DeleteWe were hoping to visit Denmark next month with our daughter and her family but we've postponed for now. We did visit Copenhagen briefly before embarking on a cruise along the coast of Norway.
